Buckeye Polymers Nomenclature
Our alpha-numeric nomenclature allows us to display information to our customers as a quick means of determining the product. Product codes are listed in this format;
BP XX YYZZ ___, where XX designates the polymer, YY referring to a specific property, ZZ indicating the melt flow of the resin and the ___ relating to the additive package and color. A typical unfilled polypropylene product is described as follows:
| BP | Buckeye Polymers | |
| XX = PP | Polypropylene | |
| C | Copolymer | |
| YY | Impact Strength | |
| ZZ | Melt Flow | |
| R | Recycled Content | |
| U | UV Stabilized | |
| BLK | Black | |
| GRY | Gray | |
| WHT | White | |
| NAT | Natural |
BP PPC 0235 BLK is a polypropylene copolymer, 2 izod, 35 melt black resin.
For our line of filled polypropylenes, the code is very similar, with the exception being that the XX callout refers to the percent filler in the formulation.
| R | Reinforced |
| YY | Filler Content |
| ZZ | Melt Flow |
| T | Talc Filled |
| C | Calcium Carbonate Filled |
| M | Mica Filled |
| GK | Glass Filled |
| W | Wolastanite Filled |
| U | UV Stabilized |
BP RPPC 2012 TU GRY is a 20% talc reinforced, 12 melt polypropylene copolymer, UV stable, gray resin.
For our line of TPO and TPE products, the XX callout refers to the hardness of the resin.
| FLEX | TPO or TPE product |
| D | Shore D Hardness |
| A | Shore A Hardness |
| YY | Hardness |
BP FLEX D 6017 TU BLK is a 60 shore D, 17 melt, talc filled, UV stable black TPO.
